What can we do for you in Beit Shemesh?
The same services as in Jerusalem, right at your door:
- Locked out or door slammed shut: door opening, using the least destructive method that works on your lock.
- Lost keys, worn or damaged lock: lock and cylinder replacement.
- A stronger front door: security locks and cylinders.
- After a break-in: replacing the cylinder and checking the bolts and frame, so the door locks properly again.
- Free advice on securing your door, based on a WhatsApp photo.
Just got the keys to a new apartment? Change the cylinder
A lot of Beit Shemesh is still under construction, especially in Ramat Beit Shemesh. While a building goes up, apartment keys pass through many hands: the kablan, subcontractors, the electrician, the plumber, the kitchen installer, the finishing crew. Nobody can tell you how many copies exist. Changing the cylinder at handover (mesirat dira) is the simplest way to take back control: only the new keys you’re handed will open the door.
At handover, check the door itself too:
- it closes without forcing and without rubbing against the frame;
- all the bolts extend and retract smoothly when you turn the key;
- the cylinder doesn’t stick out past the outer plate;
- you know how many keys you’re getting, and whether there’s a key control card.
If something’s wrong, write it into the handover protocol (protocol mesira) so the contractor fixes it.
The same logic applies to a resale apartment or a rental: previous owners, their kids, a cleaner or a neighbor may still have a key. It’s also the right moment to choose a security cylinder with a key control card; our guide to choosing a security lock compares the options.
Lots of kids, lots of keys: how do you keep track?
Beit Shemesh has many large families, and every child who walks home from school alone needs a key. More keys mean more lost keys and more doors slammed shut. A few habits prevent most of the calls:
- Leave a spare with a trusted neighbor or a friend nearby, not under the doormat or in the electricity cabinet on the landing: those are the first places anyone looks.
- Keep a key list: who has one, and since when. If a set goes missing, you’ll know straight away whether the cylinder needs changing.
- Choose a cylinder with protected keys: copies are only cut on presentation of the owner’s card, so nobody can duplicate a key behind your back.
- One rule for the kids: check you have your key before pulling the door shut.
How does a call-out to Beit Shemesh work?
You call or message, we tell you whether and when we can come from Jerusalem, and you ask for the price before any work starts.
- Exact address: neighborhood (in RBS, the letter: Aleph, Gimmel, Daled…), street, number, entrance and floor. In RBS Aleph many streets are named after streams and start with “Nahal”, so sending your location on WhatsApp avoids mix-ups.
- What happened: slammed shut or locked with the key, key snapped in the cylinder, key left inside.
- A photo of the door and the cylinder, if you can.
- Proof you live there: teudat zehut with its sefach, a rental contract or an arnona bill.
- The price: ask before any work begins.
For what to do while you wait, see locked out: what to do.
Fridays, erev chag and Shabbat
We’re open Sunday to Friday and closed on Shabbat. On Friday, call as early in the day as you can: the job, including the drive from Jerusalem, has to be finished well before Shabbat comes in. The same goes for erev chag: if a lock is already giving you trouble, don’t leave it until the last day before the holiday.
An English-speaking locksmith in Beit Shemesh
Beit Shemesh has large English- and French-speaking communities, and many families arrived only recently. When you’re locked out, trying to explain a cylinder or a multi-point lock in Hebrew is the last thing you need. With us, everything happens in English: what’s broken, what’s being replaced and how many keys you’ll get.
Our interior doors service (sale and installation) is limited to Jerusalem and the surrounding area. Planning new interior doors in Beit Shemesh? Send us your address and we’ll tell you whether it falls within that area. Live closer to the capital? See our Jerusalem locksmith page, or all our service areas.

Frequently asked questions
My young child is locked inside the apartment alone. What should I do?
If a young child or a vulnerable person is alone inside, call Fire and Rescue on 102 or the police on 100 first: that's their job whenever someone may be at risk. In any other situation, or to fix the lock afterwards, call us on 055-508-8444.
Do you also come to the moshavim and kibbutzim around Beit Shemesh?
Yes. Our locksmith service covers all of Israel, including Tzur Hadassah, Tzora, Eshtaol, Zanoah, Mata and Nes Harim. Give us the exact address or send your location on WhatsApp, since house numbers can be hard to spot in a moshav or kibbutz.
We're still in the kablan's bedek period. Can we change the cylinder?
In most cases, yes: changing the cylinder doesn't alter the door itself. To be safe, keep the original cylinder and check your purchase contract. If the contractor still has repairs to do, plan to let them in yourself rather than handing over a key.
How much does a locksmith cost in Beit Shemesh?
The price depends on the door, the cylinder and the work involved, so we don't publish a price list. Describe the problem and send a photo on WhatsApp to 055-508-8444, then ask for the price before you confirm the visit.
I don't know what kind of lock I have. How do I describe it?
A photo does the job: one of the whole door from outside, then a close-up of the cylinder and handle. Tell us whether it's a steel door, a wooden door or a service door, and whether the key is still in the lock on the other side.
