Petah Tikva is one of the biggest cities in central Israel, and much of it is a building site. Older low-rise blocks are being strengthened under Tama 38 or demolished and rebuilt under pinui-binui, while new towers keep going up in the newer neighborhoods. For a locksmith in Petah Tikva, that means two very different kinds of call: old locks that need upgrading, and brand-new apartments where nobody knows how many keys are out there.
What can we help with in Petah Tikva?
Anything to do with the lock on your front door:
| Your situation | What we do |
|---|---|
| Door slammed shut, keys inside | Door opening, without damage whenever possible |
| Keys lost or stolen | Opening, then a new cylinder |
| Key broken or turning badly | Extraction, repair or a new cylinder |
| New apartment or new tenant | Lock and cylinder replacement |
| Door forced or a break-in attempt | Securing the door and replacing damaged parts |
| Old door that feels too weak | Security cylinder or lock, plus free advice |
Just got the keys to a new apartment: should you change the cylinder?
Yes. It is the single most useful thing to do at handover. During construction, your door keys may have passed through the hands of the developer, subcontractors, finishing crews and cleaners, and nobody can tell you how many copies exist.
- At handover, check that the door locks smoothly when closed, without pushing or lifting it.
- If the door or lock is faulty, report it to the developer first: during the bedek period (the time in which the developer must fix defects), that repair is their job.
- Change the cylinder when you move in, and keep the code card that comes with the new keys somewhere safe.
- Count your keys and note who gets one: family, cleaner, a neighbor.
Not sure which cylinder to pick? Our guide to choosing a security lock explains what actually matters.
Is your building under Tama 38 works? How do you protect the apartment?
Lock up properly every time and keep track of your keys until the work is finished. Urban renewal projects are common in Petah Tikva’s older neighborhoods, and while the scaffolding is up it gives access to balconies and windows, and workers come and go in the stairwell.
- Lock the door with the key when you go out instead of just pulling it shut: a slammed door is held only by the latch.
- Lock the balcony door and windows, and lower the shutters when you are away.
- Don’t hand your key to the site crew without knowing who holds it and for how long.
- When the works end, change the cylinder if keys have been passed around.
- After a break-in, call the police on 100 before touching anything, then follow our after a break-in guide.
How does a call-out to a tower work?
The same as anywhere else, plus a few practical details that save time. We come from Jerusalem, so the timing depends on the hour and our schedule, and we give you an honest estimate on the phone.
- Call or WhatsApp 055-508-8444, with a photo of the door and cylinder if you can.
- Give the address, the building or entrance number, the floor and the apartment.
- Explain how to get in: lobby code, intercom, visitor parking, and let the lobby manager know if there is one.
- Ask for the price before the work starts.
- Keep proof of address handy: your teudat zehut with the sefach, a lease or an arnona bill.
Which parts of Petah Tikva do we cover?
The whole city: the center around Haim Ozer Street, Kfar Ganim (A, B and C), Em HaMoshavot, Neve Gan, Ramat Verber, Ein Ganim, Mahane Yehuda, Amishav, Hadar Ganim, Neve Oz, Kfar Avraham and the other residential neighborhoods.
- New towers: mainly in Em HaMoshavot, Neve Gan, Kfar Ganim C and along Jabotinsky Road, where the Red Line light rail runs.
- Urban renewal: Ramat Verber and several older neighborhoods, with buildings under works or being replaced by towers.
- Older walk-ups: mostly in the center and the historic neighborhoods.
- Private houses: notably in Neve Oz, where the garden door matters as much as the front door.
We also cover nearby towns such as Bnei Brak, Givat Shmuel, Kiryat Ono, Yehud and Rosh HaAyin, as well as Tel Aviv. See all our service areas.
When can you reach us?
Sunday to Friday; we are closed on Shabbat. On Fridays, call early in the day. If someone may be in danger behind a locked door, call 100, 101 or 102 straight away: they answer at any hour, including Shabbat.
We have over 10 years of experience and speak English, Hebrew and French, which helps when the landlord, the va’ad bayit or the tower’s management company only speaks Hebrew.

Frequently asked questions
Do you have a shop in Petah Tikva?
No. We are based in Jerusalem and travel to Petah Tikva for locksmith jobs. There is no walk-in address: call or message 055-508-8444 and we arrange a visit to your home.
The tower's lobby door or parking gate is stuck. Who should I call?
Shared doors such as the lobby, the parking gate and the bin room are handled by the building's management company (chevrat nihul) or the va'ad bayit, which orders the repair. Your own apartment door is your responsibility, or your landlord's if you rent.
Is a brand-new steel door harder to open when it slams?
Not necessarily. If it was only slammed, it is held by the latch alone and usually opens without damage. If it was locked with the key and has a modern security cylinder, opening it is more technical and may mean replacing the cylinder, and we explain that before doing anything.
How much does a locksmith cost in Petah Tikva?
We don't publish prices, because the cost depends on the door, the job, any parts and the travel. Send a photo of the door and cylinder on WhatsApp and ask for the price before any work starts.
Do you install interior doors in Petah Tikva?
No. Interior doors are only offered in Jerusalem and the surrounding area. In Petah Tikva we work as locksmiths on your front door.
