Netanya has a large French-speaking community and a sizeable English-speaking one, and almost every apartment here has the same kind of front door: an Israeli steel security door, often called a “Pladelet” after one manufacturer, with a multi-point lock and a removable cylinder. These doors are built to resist forcing, which is exactly why a slammed one rarely opens with a credit card. If you are stuck outside, a locksmith in Netanya who understands you, and whom you understand, makes the whole thing simpler.
What locksmith services do we offer in Netanya?
Everything to do with your front door’s lock, explained in English:
- Door opening: slammed doors, doors locked with the key inside, keys broken in the cylinder, keys lost or stolen.
- Lock and cylinder replacement: after lost keys, a move, a new tenant, or when the key gets stiff.
- Lock repairs when the mechanism catches or the door no longer locks properly.
- Securing your door after a break-in, including replacing a forced cylinder.
- Security cylinders and locks to upgrade an existing door without replacing it.
- Free advice on whether your current door and cylinder are good enough.
Interior doors are a separate service that we only offer in the Jerusalem area.
How does a call-out to Netanya work?
You call, describe the problem, get a price and a realistic time, and the locksmith checks that you live there before starting. We are not a local Netanya shop: we come from Jerusalem, so the timing depends on the hour and our schedule, and we tell you honestly on the phone.
- Call or WhatsApp 055-508-8444.
- Give the full address: neighborhood, street, number, entrance, floor, apartment, and the lobby code if there is one.
- Send a photo of the door and the cylinder if you have your phone.
- Ask for the price before any work starts.
- Have proof of address ready, such as your teudat zehut with its address appendix (the sefach), a lease, or an arnona bill.
- After the door is open, decide whether to change the cylinder: worth it if the keys are lost, unnecessary if they were simply left inside.
For planned work, such as a cylinder change after moving in, book an appointment instead of waiting until it becomes urgent.
Do towers, older buildings and holiday flats need different things?
Yes, mostly in how you prepare for the visit. We cover the whole city, from Kiryat Nordau and Kiryat Sanz down to Ir Yamim and Agamim, and Netanya mixes older walk-ups in the center, high-rise towers in the newer neighborhoods and many apartments owned by people who live abroad part of the year.
| Home type | Where in Netanya | What to prepare |
|---|---|---|
| Newer tower with a lobby | Ir Yamim, Ramat Poleg, Agamim, Kiryat HaSharon | Lobby code, parking access, a word to the lobby manager |
| Older walk-up | City center around Kikar HaAtzmaut and Herzl Street, Kiryat Nordau, Dora | Older locks wear out; consider a security cylinder |
| Holiday or second home | The seafront, Nitza Boulevard, Ir Yamim | Stiff cylinder after months closed; too many spare keys around |
| Rental | Anywhere | Landlord’s agreement before changing the cylinder |
We also cover nearby Even Yehuda and Kfar Yona, the wider Sharon region, and Herzliya and Ra’anana. See all our service areas.
Does sea air really damage locks?
Yes. Near the cliffs and the promenade, salt and humidity make cylinders stiff and rust hinges, especially in apartments left closed for months. A key that has to be forced is often the warning sign before a key breaks inside the lock.
- Stop forcing a stiff key and have the cylinder checked instead.
- Use a dry lubricant (graphite or PTFE spray), not oil, which traps sand and dust.
- When you arrive after a long absence, lock and unlock the door a few times with it open to test the mechanism.
Who has keys to your apartment?
In a city with so many rentals and part-time owners, spare keys multiply: the previous owner, the agent, contractors, the neighbor who waters the plants, short-term tenants. A few habits keep that under control:
- Change the cylinder after buying or after renovation work.
- Keep a list of who has a spare key, and change the cylinder when you change tenant or property manager (with the owner’s agreement if you rent).
- Store the key card safely, not in the apartment: many security cylinders come with a code card that is needed to cut new keys.
- Avoid leaving a full set in a combination key box in the lobby.
- Keys left abroad? Call before you fly to arrange the opening, and a new cylinder if needed, for when you land.
What about Fridays and Shabbat?
We work Sunday to Friday and are closed on Shabbat. If your door slams on a Friday, call as early in the day as you can, especially in winter when Shabbat starts early.
If someone may be in danger behind a locked door (a child alone, an elderly person who does not answer, a stove left on), do not wait for a locksmith: call the police on 100, Magen David Adom on 101 or fire and rescue on 102, at any hour including Shabbat. Our guide on what to do when you’re locked out covers the first steps.
Why use an English-speaking locksmith?
Because “tsilinder”, “man’ul rav-briach” and “va’ad bayit” are not words you learn on day one of ulpan. With over 10 years of experience, we explain what is blocking the door, what we suggest and why, and we can speak Hebrew with your landlord or building committee when needed.

Frequently asked questions
Do you have a shop or office in Netanya?
No. SecureDoors Israel is based in Jerusalem and travels to Netanya and the rest of the country for locksmith work. There is no walk-in address: everything starts with a call or a WhatsApp message to 055-508-8444.
I own the apartment but I'm not an Israeli resident. What ID do you need?
Your passport plus a document that links your name to the address, such as the purchase contract, a Tabu extract, or an arnona or electricity bill. If the papers are inside, they are checked right after the door is opened. A neighbor or a member of the va'ad bayit who knows you can also confirm.
Can you install interior doors in Netanya?
No. Interior door sales and installation are limited to Jerusalem and the surrounding area. In Netanya we only do locksmith work: door opening, locks, cylinders and securing your front door.
Is the price the same as in Jerusalem?
We don't publish a price list. The cost depends on the door, the job, any parts needed and the travel. Describe the problem on the phone or send a photo, and ask for the price before any work starts.
My landlord only speaks Hebrew. Can you talk to them?
Yes. We speak English, Hebrew and French, so we can explain to your landlord, the va'ad bayit or the lobby manager exactly what was done and why, which saves you translating technical details.
